Philippines' largest online classifieds site; acquired by OLX Group in 2014

About Sulit.com.ph

Sulit.com.ph was a free online classified-ads marketplace launched on September 11, 2006 by RJ David and his wife Arianne David, reportedly started with as little as $50. It grew into the Philippines’ largest buy-and-sell website, at its peak reported to draw over 2.7 million active users and roughly 12 million site visits a day — well before Shopee, Lazada, or Carousell had a Philippine presence.

On March 19, 2014, Sulit.com.ph was acquired by OLX, the New York/Buenos Aires-headquartered global classifieds network, and rebranded as OLX.ph. In 2015, OLX Philippines merged with fellow classifieds site AyosDito.ph, further consolidating the local online classifieds market under the OLX brand.

OLX Philippines was subsequently absorbed into Carousell as Carousell.ph following a broader global merger of OLX Group and Carousell’s Southeast Asian and South Asian operations. The original sulit.com.ph brand and domain are no longer in independent use; the underlying business today operates under the Carousell.ph brand.

The Problem They're Solving

Gave Filipino individuals and small sellers a free, centralized online venue to list and search for used goods, vehicles, real estate, jobs, and services, at a time when most classifieds still ran through print newspapers or scattered community forums.

Who They Serve

Filipino individual buyers and sellers of used goods, vehicles, property, and services, plus small businesses posting classified listings.

What Makes Them Different

Reached large early scale (reportedly 2.7M+ active users, ~12M daily visits) purely as a free classifieds platform in a market with limited broadband/mobile penetration at the time, making it the dominant local alternative before global marketplaces entered the Philippines.

What Happened

Acquired by global classifieds network OLX on March 19, 2014 and rebranded OLX.ph; OLX Philippines later merged with fellow classifieds site AyosDito.ph (2015) and was ultimately folded into Carousell.ph following OLX Group and Carousell's broader regional merger. The original Sulit brand and domain are no longer in independent use, so no live website is listed here.

Traction & Milestones

Reported 2.7M+ active users and ~12M daily site visits prior to its 2014 acquisition; acquired by OLX Group and later absorbed into Carousell.ph.
