About MoneyMax.ph
MoneyMax.ph launched in the Philippines in 2014, co-founded by Jorrit Koop and Quentin Bouche, as an online comparison platform for credit cards, personal loans, insurance, and broadband plans — one of several country-specific marketplaces built under the regional Hyphen Group umbrella. A $50 million Series B round in 2017, backed by the IFC, Alibaba Group, SBI Group, Goldman Sachs, and Nova Founders Capital, funded the group’s expansion across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.
Hyphen Group was later rebranded MoneyHero Group, and in October 2023 the group went public on the Nasdaq under ticker MNY. MoneyMax continues operating as MoneyHero Group’s Philippine market brand within that now publicly traded parent company.
More than a decade after launch, MoneyMax remains an active, functioning comparison marketplace serving Filipino consumers, with a reported headcount in the 51-to-200 range as of mid-2024 — a clear, durable example of a Philippine fintech startup whose real outcome was regional consolidation and an eventual public listing at the group level, rather than shutdown or standalone acquisition.
The Problem They're Solving
Filipino consumers had no single place to compare credit card, loan, insurance, and broadband offers across providers, making it hard to identify genuinely competitive rates or terms without contacting each institution one at a time.
Who They Serve
Individual Filipino consumers comparing and applying for credit cards, personal loans, insurance, and broadband plans.
What Makes Them Different
MoneyMax was built from the outset as part of a multi-market regional comparison group (Hyphen/MoneyHero), giving it shared technology, partner relationships, and capital access that a purely Philippine-only competitor would have had to build alone — and it ultimately rode that group structure to a Nasdaq listing in 2023.
Traction & Milestones
Group-level $50 million Series B in 2017; parent MoneyHero Group's October 2023 Nasdaq IPO under ticker MNY; MoneyMax reported headcount of roughly 51-200 employees as of July 2024.
