About CodeChum Software Solutions (GradeChum)
CodeChum began as a college thesis project by Jemar Jude Maranga, who graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cebu Institute of Technology University in 2018 as the top graduate across all programs. That thesis grew into CodeChum, an online platform connecting educators and students learning programming languages, which now counts more than 100 partner schools across the Philippines.
The same team built GradeChum, an AI grading assistant that automates the evaluation of handwritten and digital student assessments — letting instructors scan handwritten tests, get instant grading and feedback, and track student performance. The parent company, originally CodeChum Software Solutions Inc., was renamed ChumLabs Innovations Inc. to make clear that CodeChum and GradeChum are sibling products from the same team, not separate companies.
GradeChum was featured among Filipino startups at GITEX AI Asia 2026, and the company has been recognized as a national finalist for the Presidential Filipinnovation Awards.
The Problem They're Solving
Teachers spend enormous amounts of time manually grading handwritten and digital student work, and Philippine students learning to code have historically lacked an accessible, guided platform for hands-on programming practice and instant feedback.
Who They Serve
Philippine schools and universities (100+ partner institutions) along with their instructors and programming students who use CodeChum and GradeChum directly.
What Makes Them Different
Grew from a single founder's undergraduate thesis into one of the Philippines' most-used programming-education platforms, then extended into AI-based automated grading (GradeChum) as a distinct but connected product rather than staying a single-purpose tool.
Traction & Milestones
100+ partner schools for CodeChum; GradeChum featured among Filipino startups at GITEX AI Asia 2026; national finalist for the Presidential Filipinnovation Awards.
