Kalibrr

Kalibrr was founded in 2012 by Paul Rivera, Dexter Ligot-Gordon, and Danny Castonguay. Rivera had left a product management role at Google and years running an outsourcing company to move back to Manila after seeing firsthand how broken the hiring process was for the Philippine BPO industry.

Kalibrr started as a skills-training and assessment platform aimed at BPO job seekers before pivoting its core business into a direct online job-matching marketplace connecting employers with candidates. It became the first Philippine startup accepted into Y Combinator.

The company has since grown into what it calls a full-stack hiring platform — a jobs portal, applicant tracking system, employer branding tools, and Employer of Record services — with operations spanning the Philippines and Indonesia, and reported reaching profitability in March 2021.

Employers, especially in the Philippines' large BPO sector, historically struggled with slow, high-volume, low-visibility hiring processes, while job seekers lacked an accessible way to build a verified profile, take standardized assessments, and apply broadly in one place.

Employers across the Philippines and Southeast Asia (particularly BPO and corporate hiring teams) and the job seekers who create profiles, complete assessments, and apply to roles through the platform.

Kalibrr combines a jobs marketplace with its own applicant tracking system, employer branding, and Employer of Record services rather than being a listings site alone, and it reached profitability as a Y Combinator-backed Philippine startup operating across multiple Southeast Asian markets.
