MedGrocer, operated by parent company Wellbridge Health Inc., was founded in 2016 by Jerome Uy as an FDA-licensed online pharmacy paired with a corporate medicine-benefits management platform for Philippine employers.

The company lets consumers order medication online for delivery, while its corporate-facing product helps employers manage and administer medicine benefits for their workforce — a dual consumer and enterprise model that gives it two connected revenue lines rather than one.

In 2017, Ayala Corporation’s healthcare arm AC Health made a seed investment in MedGrocer, a strategic vote of confidence from one of the Philippines’ largest conglomerates. MedGrocer reports serving more than one million Filipinos annually across its ePharmacy and corporate benefits businesses.

Filipino consumers needing regular medication access have limited convenient options beyond in-person pharmacy visits, while employers managing medicine benefits for staff have historically lacked digital tools to administer and track that benefit efficiently.
